Terms & Conditions

Definitions & Meanings "Carer" means the person who attends class with the Participant and is responsible for their welfare "Class(es)" means the Taekwondo class "Coach" and/or “Instructor” means the individual teaching classes. Strike Taekwondo retains the right to change the coaching/teaching staff where necessary. "Fees" means the value chargeable to attend Classes as specified on the most current pricelist available from Strike Taekwondo. “Licence” means membership and insurance at Strike Taekwondo. “Lesson” means the Taekwondo class being taught. “Membership” means a student who holds a licence and thus is an official member of Strike Taekwondo with valid insurance. “Newcomer” means anyone who attends Strike Taekwondo for the first time, who has never attended since Strike Taekwondo was established. “Pay as you go” means paying class fees on a class by class basis according to attendence. "Parent" means a parent or legal guardian of the Participant who will be responsible for the payment of the Fees and who is the contracting party to this contract and who shall (if the Carer is not the Parent) be responsible for compliance with these Terms & Conditions. "Student" means the child or adult who is attending or who is booked on to a class, whose details are specified by the Student themselves or the Parent or Carer on the Registration Form. “Child” refers to ages 17 and below in respect of membership and class fees. "Premises" means the premises where the classes take place - Strike Taekwondo, 1st Floor of Millennium House, South Street, Keighley, BD21 1DQ. "Strike Taekwondo” means the company or person with whom you have entered into this contract in respect of the provision of classes and membership. This encompasses all branches of Strike Taekwondo. "Terms & Conditions" means the terms and conditions set out in this document and any special terms and conditions agreed in writing by Strike Taekwondo and the Student and/or Parent. "Website" means the website at www.striketaekwondo.co.uk Classes All members are allocated a place at a class of their choice subject to availability. In the event that class is full, newcomers or members will be offered a place on the waiting list for the class required. Class attendence is strictly monitored with the following rules and regulations in place: - i) classes must be attended consistently. Consistently means on a weekly basis at the class or classes which have been allocated to the member. Only members who can commit to attending classes consistently on a weekly basis, will be allocated a place in class. If attendence becomes inconsistent Strike Taekwondo are under no obligation to hold the members place in class, Strike Taekwondo has the right to offer the place to another student/member. ii) only the classes allocated with membership may be attended. Under no circumstances must a student turn up to another class which is neither allocated or paid for. Please note, under special circumstances, if a class is missed due to illness, an alternative class may be offered but this is strictly down to the descretion of Strike Taekwondo and its instructors, authorisation must be sought beforehand. Due to most classes being full, it is not usually possible to switch class. iii) members/students must notify the instructor if they will not be present at class due to illness or any other matter. iv) in the event that class payment is missed, membership is instantly void and the place may be allocated to another member or new student. v) in the event of long illness/injury where the member has informed Strike Taekwondo, we will endeavor to offer a place back at the original class attended as soon as possible and will offer an alternative in the meantime, however, this can not be guaranteed, nor is Strike Taekwondo under any obligation to provide this. Under these circumstances it is possible to keep your place in class by continuation of your regular direct debit; a reduction in the fee is at the discretion of Strike Taekwondo. vi) Strike Taekwondo has a strict limit on numbers at class and age/grade boundaries. Those boundaries must be respected at all times, failure to do so may lead to membership being made void. Strike Taekwondo endeavours to maintain high quality of tuition appropriate to the class type, under no circumstances must students attend classes which are not allocated to their age/grade. vii)For any child who is below the age of 16 written consent is required from a parent or legal guardian to be provided to Strike Taekwondo in advance of the commencement of classes. This consent is to be provided via the “Licence” application. Class Changes/Cancellations/Closures i) Strike Taekwondo reserves the right to change and/or cancel classes where required due to bad weather, coach illness, unforeseen circumstances and any other issues which may stop the class from taking place. ii) In the event that Strike Taekwondo has to cancel classes for any reason, no refunds will be given though an alternative class will be offered where possible. iii) In the event of low numbers at a particular class, Strike Taekwondo reserves the right to cancel that class at any time. Class cancellations will be notified by email to those students who have authorised Strike Taekwondo to send email correspondence; cancellations will also be listed on the Strike Taekwondo Facebook group page. Strike Taekwondo is under no obligation to notify students by other methods, and it is therefore the responsibility of the member/student/parent to provide a suitable email address for class notifications and to take note of any emails sent out. iv) Strike Taekwondo reserves the right to change the timetable, add and remove classes, where needed, taking care to minimise impact on members as far as possible. v) Strike Taekwondo closes on occasional Bank Holidays (notice will be issued) and up to a maximum of 5 weeks over the year which usually includes 1 week at Easter, 2 weeks at summer and 2 weeks at Christmas. Notification of any closures will be given via email. Class payments take into account these closures and are spread out evenly over a 12 month period. Members are not charged for the period of closure and direct debits continue as normal. No refunds are issued for any bank holiday closures though an alternative class may be offered subject to availability. vi) Any direct debits cancelled by a member during a closure, void membership at Strike Taekwondo. Complaints In the unlikely event that you or your child are dissatisfied with the service we provide then please in the first instance raise it with the instructor at class. If the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction then please email the club owner at lisa@striketaekwondo.co.uk within 7 days of the issue. A response will be sent within 14 days of receipt of the email. We take your views and complaints very seriously and will endeavour to resolve your complaint as quickly as possible. Online Competitions Any competitions through Strike Taekwondo social media on facebook and twitter are run according to the information provided on those sites. Strike Taekwondo reserves the right to make changes to the competiton whilst ongoing including but not exclusive of, the changing of any given deadline. Competitions must have a minimum of 10 entries to be fulfilled. Winners will be notified and the prize stated will be offered. Winners have 14 days with which to confirm acceptance of the prize. There is no cash alternative. Prizes are as stated in the competition and may be adjusted where necessary. Strike Taekwondo is under no obligation to provide any other prize as a substitiute. Coach Qualifications & Standards Coaching staff are fully qualified, insured and DBS certified. Coaches are trained to recognise the signs of child abuse, In the event that a child makes a disclosure or coaching staff believe that the child is suffering from abuse, we will act in accordance with our child protection policy, a copy of which is available on request to Strike Taekwondo or can be found online via our ‘Members’ page. All coaches have been first aid trained & have completed the Safeguarding in Sport qualification with NSPCC. Lead Safeguarding Officer - Lisa Winteridge 07919898651, lisa@striketaekwondo.co.uk External Events External events are held for members only and allow members to get to know one another outside of Strike Taekwondo. Events held outside of Strike Taekwondo are not the responsiblity of Strike Taekwondo or any of it’s instructors/coaches. Any activity or meeting of members is entirely at members own risk, Strike Taekwondo and it’s instructors/coaches do not take responsibility for safety of individuals or personal belongings during such events. Family Discount Discounts are available for families giving a reduction off regular prices. Details of the discounts are available from class or online; alternatively, members can request a copy of class prices via email: info@striketaekwondo.co.uk. Family discount only applies to: - i) immediate family ii) family living in the same household Film/Photography Strike Taekwondo may from time to time take photographs/film during a class. The use of this data is solely for the purpose of promoting and publicising Strike Taekwondo through our literature, website and social media. Parents/guardians that do not wish for their child to be photographed/filmed must make Strike Taekwondo aware of this at the time of joining via the registration form, or in writing before the student takes up his/her place in class. No spectators are allowed at class due to child protection and health and safety matters; no one other that registered Instructors for Strike Taekwondo, are permitted to take photographs in class. Health & Safety Coaching staff hold emergency first aid certification issued by an appropriate UK governing body. Parent/Carer must come into the club before leaving a child and must return to collect their child from the premises. Parent/Carer is responsible for ensuring children do not leave the premises without an appropriate adult. In the event that the Parent/Carer can not collect their child, the Parent/Carer must inform the instructor who the appropriate adult is who will be collecting their child. Strike Taekwondo holds no responsibility for any matters occuring outside of class times and outside of the premises. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you are providing consent for Strike Taekwondo coaches to administer all necessary first aid to you or your child as required at any time. Member Holidays Members should inform their instructor of any holidays where they will be absent from class. No refunds are available when absent from class. However, where a longer period of absence is required due to an extended vacation or illness/operation, membership and payment may be suspended (at the discretion of Strike Taekwondo). Under these circumstances Strike Taekwondo are under no obligation to hold the members place open and this place may be offered to another member/new student. In order to guarantee continuation of membership and your allocated place in class, payment must continue during absence. Members have the option of cancelling their membership at any time, with written notice. Upon cancellation the place in class may be offered to another student. Liability Strike Taekwondo has Public Liability insurance with cover provided by BMABA (British Martial Arts and Boxing Association). Other than in relation to death or severe personal injury, where Strike Taekwondo or its coaches are proven to be negligent, Strike Taekwondo’s liability to you is limited to the class fee paid. Medical information Any medical condition that any participant may have must be fully disclosed (1) at registration and (2) to the lead coach at the class. Failure to provide such information could prove dangerous and detrimental to the student. Strike Taekwondo takes no responsibility whatsoever for Students/Parents who fail to disclose such issues and thus put themselves and/or their child at risk of injury or medical complications. Membership All students are required to hold a licence when training at Strike Taekwondo, as per any reputable martial arts school. Strike Taekwondo requires all students to hold a valid licence which forms your membership and insurance. Membership must be paid for upon joining Strike Taekwondo. Membership is paid for annually at a set cost of £28 per licence, per year. Strike Taekwondo reserves the right to amend these prices at any time. Membership runs for 12 months from the date of the first class attended. Members using GoCardless or Stripe for direct debit payment, will have the licence automatically added to the account and will be informed of this.Renewals will be notified and put through automatically for ‘active’ students attending classes. Renewals must be applied for at least 2 weeks prior to expiry of the current licence, to ensure continuous membership and insurance. Renewals made after the expiry date incur an additional fee of £5 for each individual licence. Only members holding a valid licence are entitled to attend class, events, gradings, seminars and compeititons; Strike Taekwondo and it’s instructors reserve the right to refuse students access to any of these should they not hold a valid licence. The insurance provided is member to member liability only. Personal Accident Insurance is an additional, optional insurance, which can be purchased by members individually if required. Personal Accident insurance is not provided by Strike Taekwondo. Strike Taekwondo offers an online membership service. When the licence application form has been completed and submitted, payment in full received and the membership validated by Strike Taekwondo, you will be sent confirmation of membership and can expect to receive the licence book within 2 weeks. Licence books are available for collection at class. Membership is subject to agreeing our website terms and conditions hereby incorporated, along with the club code of conduct. All bookings and payment protection are subject to the right to cancel in writing (by fax or e-mail to us) within seven (7) calendar days from the date that you receive e-mail acknowledgement of the booking pursuant to the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. Outside of this seven (7) day period all bookings confirmed by us are final and non-refundable. Members of Strike Taekwondo must seek approval from their instructor with regards to training at any other martial arts venue. Failure to do so may lead to membership being revoked. Members are not allowed to train at other Taekwondo clubs with the exception of the following circumstances: - i) member is on holiday or working away and would like to continue his/her training at a club elsewhere; member to inform his/her instructor. ii) member has been referred to another Taekwondo club by his/her coach at Strike Taekwondo in order to progress as necessary iii) member is attending a seminar/training session as arranged by Strike Taekwondo iv) member has gained approval from his/her instructor to train elsewhere for reasons as agreed. Members who choose to leave and go to another club, must not disclose information regarding the club, this includes but is not exculsive to: class structure/format, coach/instructor details, information regarding other students, club processes and procedures. Members who choose to leave and train elsewhere, automatically forfeit their membership of Strike Taekwondo. Strike Taekwondo is under no obligation to offer the excluded student a place back in class, to do so is at the discretion of the Chief Instructor. Strike Taekwondo does not provide refunds to any member who leaves or who is asked to leave due to breaking any of the terms and conditions listed, or due to abusive, threatening or bullying behaviour. Payment & Member Cancellations Strike Taekwondo accepts GoCardless, BACS and Stripe as methods of payment. Payment options: - i) Monthly Direct Debit - payment to be made at the end of the calendar month for the month ahead, or on the 1st day of the month for which payment is being made. No refunds given. No contracts, membership can be stopped at any time by emailing lisa@striketaekwondo.co.uk or sending written confirmation via sms or whatsapp to 07919898651, with a minimum notice of 1 week. Any classes within the 1 week period from notification, must still be paid for in full. ii) Licence and renewal fees are collected via direct debit on a yearly basis where students remain ‘active’ on our system with a monthly direct debit in place for classes being attended. Payment to be collected via the same payment method used for monthly class payments. Members can opt out of the auto-renewal system by emailing/texting “licence opt out” to lisa@striketaekwondo.co.uk or 07919898651. Personal Property Strike Taekwondo cannot be held responsible for any theft, loss or damage to any personal belongings left inside our outside of the premises. Additional Information The information on this site is updated regularly. However, we hereby exclude any warranties (whether expressed or implied) as to the quality, accuracy, efficacy, completeness and performance for a particular purpose of the site. These Terms and Conditions form the entire agreement between you and Strike Taekwondo. By registering with or taking out membership with Strike Taekwondo, you are acknowledging your full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and confirm that you have not relied on any other representation other than those contained within these Terms and Conditions. If any term within these Terms and Conditions is found to be unenforceable by a competent Court then such term shall be struck out but the remaining terms within these Terms and Conditions shall continue in force to the full extent permitted by law. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.

Members are not allowed to train at other Taekwondo clubs with the exception of the following circumstances: - i) member is on holiday or working away and would like to continue his/her training at a club elsewhere; member to inform his/her instructor. ii) member has been referred to another Taekwondo club by his/her coach at Strike Taekwondo in order to progress as necessary iii) member is attending a seminar/training session as arranged by Strike Taekwondo iv) member has gained approval from his/her instructor to train elsewhere for reasons as agreed. Members who choose to leave and go to another club, must not disclose information regarding the club, this includes but is not exculsive to: class structure/format, coach/instructor details, information regarding other students, club processes and procedures. Members who choose to leave and train elsewhere, automatically forfeit their membership of Strike Taekwondo. Strike Taekwondo is under no obligation to offer the excluded student a place back in class, to do so is at the discretion of the Chief Instructor. Strike Taekwondo does not provide refunds to any member who leaves or who is asked to leave due to breaking any of the terms and conditions listed, or due to abusive, threatening or bullying behaviour. Payment & Member Cancellations Strike Taekwondo accepts GoCardless, BACS and Stripe as methods of payment. Payment options: - i) Monthly Direct Debit - payment to be made for the month ahead, or on the 1st day of the month for which payment is being made. No refunds given. No contracts, membership can be stopped at any time by emailing lisa@striketaekwondo.co.uk or sending written confirmation via sms or whatsapp to 07919898651, with a minimum notice of 1 week. Any classes within the 1 week period from notification, must still be paid for in full. ii) Licence and renewal fees are collected via direct debit on a yearly basis where students remain ‘active’ on our system with a monthly direct debit in place for classes being attended. Payment to be collected via the same payment method used for monthly class payments. Members can opt out of the auto-renewal system by emailing/texting “licence opt out” to lisa@striketaekwondo.co.uk or 07919898651. Personal Property Strike Taekwondo cannot be held responsible for any theft, loss or damage to any personal belongings left inside our outside of the premises. By registering with or taking out membership with Strike Taekwondo, you are acknowledging your full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and confirm that you have not relied on any other representation other than those contained within these Terms and Conditions. If any term within these Terms and Conditions is found to be unenforceable by a competent Court then such term shall be struck out but the remaining terms within these Terms and Conditions shall continue in force to the full extent permitted by law. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
